Kissy Lips

This is one of Sterling's favorite faces to make. We have cleverly entitled it "Kissy Lips".
While we waited for Daddy to pick up Grandmother, Sterling and Mommy played with the camera. I really wanted some cute shots of just the two of us. He just didn't want to look straight ahead, though.
BIIIIIG YAWN!!!! It is so fun watching him yawn b/c he goes from a tensed up crinkle-nosed face right into "kissy lips". It's super cute!
I think he looks a little older in this picture. He's getting so big already. We were 6.5 lbs about 10 days ago...so I'm guessing we're at least 7 lbs now. Before ya know it, we'll be looking up to him!

Baby Dedication

We had Sterling's Baby Dedication at church last Saturday. It was really special b/c Pam, Jeremey's mother (aka: Grandmother), was in town. The dedication was on August 24th, which was Sterling's intended due date...he was nearly two months old by then!!! :)
Everyone kept asking whose mother Pam was...mine or Jeremey's. But I think that Jeremey (not me) looks a lot like his mom in these shots.
Our Family Group leaders, Dustin and Lucy Shenk, introduced Sterling to the church for us. They explained the meaning of his name (Sterling: bright/shining star, James: follow after) and passed things over to Pastor Max for the blessing.
None of us realized we were on the big screen until we looked at these pics. YIKES!!!
This is the outfit he wore. The little onsie says, "I might be little, but I think BIG". Isn't that the cutest!?! (Thanks Bob and Lisa!) And we borrowed those cute little canvas shoes from our friend, Beckett...they really completed the outfit.

Such a cutie!

Sterling was all cuddled up in this sweet little romper and I just had to document the angelic state. It's also a really great view of his LONG feet! LOL!
Uncle Jeromi (aka: Jermo, The Madd Greek) holding Sterling. What a contrast in size, eh?!
Uncle Ben (aka: Benjamito) holding Sterling before he moved up to DC for grad school. Ben and Jeromi are naturals with babies...they try to act like "tough guys", but put a baby in their arms and they melt like butter...in a MANLY sort of way, that is...LOL!

First Karate Gi

My mom made Sterling his first karate gi. It is sooooo adorable!
This is the cutest picture of them all! Doesn't it look like he's actually doing some fierce karate move?!
Look how well he pulls his toes back already. Bring on the front kicks!

First Bath at Home

I actually got to give Sterling his very first real bath in the hospital on the day he came home. The nurse helped me and made sure I knew what I was doing. It was great. These pictures are from his first bath at home. He doesn't look that excited, but he really did seem to enjoy it for the most part.

Sterling Comes Home!!!

The big day had finally come...Sterling was discharged from the hospital on July 28th...Mommy's Birthday!!! What an amazing birthday gift! He's getting all juiced up for the big trip in this shot.
This is what joy looks like. Jeremey and I were all smiles on this special day.
Sterling was just barely big enough for the infant car seat. He's 4 lbs 11 oz here.
He has a really sour look on his face in these next few pics b/c he was not used to the bright sunshine. They keep the NICU very dimly lit so the babies aren't irritated...so the FL sunshine was a sharp contrast in environment for him.
Finally home!!!
We had been wearing our wrist bands for the NICU since the day he was born (July 4th), so we were VERY excited to be able to cut them off! FREEDOM!!!
I just love this shot of Sterling. He looks kinda skinny, except for his jowles! Hee hee!
